Success
Loop
White Pine County, Nevada

Northwest of Ely
is a scenic drive known as the Success Loop. As previously mentioned
on desertislands.org, indications of water on maps of Nevada can be
a bit misleading, depending on the season and precipitation statistics.
We chose to take this drive because we knew that at least one of the
blue lines on the map would lead to fishable waters, especially since
most of them originated in the Schell Creeks, one of Nevada's highest
and most beautiful mountain ranges..

Berry Creek Canyon.
The creek has been manipulated by man to provide water to ranchers,
hence it is only a mile or two long before it drains into a pipeline.
Ryan managed to get a couple brookies out before we decided a short
hike would be more worthwhile.

Duck creek is fishable water, but is suffering from drought conditions.

Cave Lake is definitely
fishable water, but the population is planted rainbow trout averaging
10 to 12 inches. I slept, Ryan fished and released thirteen of the sickly
little green-meated creatures back into the water.
